Satakieli is turning two years old today! To celebrate, I decided to find out what typical two-year-olds are like.

I learned that two-year-olds can already walk confidently and that with them, every day is full of action and excitement. A typical two-year-old is an enthusiastic, charming little whirlwind whose skills give them endless opportunities to explore the world.

At least from an editor-in-chief’s perspective, this sounded quite familiar.

In just a couple of years, Satakieli has found its voice and turned its gaze to the world around it. We have published dozens of articles that have shed light on various topics important to immigrant communities in Finland. Our freelancers have demonstrated what richness it can produce to journalism, when the professional skills of journalists are combined with their diverse backgrounds.

The internet also told me that a two-year-old typically knows much more at the end of the life year than they did when they just turned two. I believe this is also true for Satakieli. The year has just begun, and there are certainly many fascinating, untold stories ahead.

Furthermore, I learned that two-year-olds typically enjoy the company of other people, both adults and children. And also that is true for us.

Because, in the end, it is you, Satakieli’s audience, who give meaning to our work. I hope that we will continue to be worthy of your time and trust in the future.

Many thanks to everyone who has read, watched, and shared our stories! Thank you also for all your feedback and story ideas. We hope to continue enjoying them in the future.

Wishing you a joyful third year with Satakieli,

Tuomas Pulsa
